October News
In the Hospital
Please join us on Tuesday, October 23rd as we celebrate our grand opening with a ribbon cutting event. The Middletown Chamber of Commerce will be performing the ceremony. We will be hosting a reception in our lobby from 5-6 PM with the ribbon cutting at 5:30 PM. We would love to have the support of our clients for this event.
We have recently welcomed Darion Gregg as our newest staff member. Darion has many years of dog training experience, wonderful animal handling skills, and a fabulous personality. She especially loves small mammal companions such as ferrets, rabbits and rats. We are excited to have Darion join our team.
In the Community
We were out and about at many local events in the last few weeks. Dr. Crosier visited Townsend Elementary School to speak with third graders about the responsibilities related to being a veterinarian. Other members of the community were also in attendance to speak about their careers. We hope that these experiences help to foster enthusiasm for veterinary medicine in our young people.
We had a great time at the Townsend Fair on September 22nd. This was a great community event featuring many local businesses and crafters. We met a lot of great community members and enjoyed playing our disc drop game and trivia game with the kids and adults alike. This event gave us the opportunity to show off our new CAVA table cover!
Dr. Russell attended the Companions at the Campground Event at Lums Pond State Park on September 29th. This was a great pet centered event and she met lots of great canine companions.

In The News
We recognize that there has been some recent press regarding oral flea and tick products of the isoxazaline class including Nexgard, Credelio, Simparica, and Bravecto. Side effects are possible with any medication, and these products are certainly no exception. While these medications are safe for most patients, they are not recommended for those with previous neurologic or seizure history. As with any medication, it is always best to speak with your veterinarian prior to use. And because these medications are dispensed by prescription only, a valid client-patient-veterinary relationship must be in place. We will continue to recommend Credelio as our preferred flea and tick preventative product. However, there are many options for flea and tick prevention available, and we are happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding what may be best for your own pet.

Halloween is quickly approaching and this holiday does pose many potential dangers for our pets.
