Dental Health 101
Dental health is an important part of your pet’s overall wellness. Plaque and tartar accumulation can lead to gum recession, odor, loose teeth, difficulty eating and pain. For dogs and cats, a professional dental cleaning under anesthesia is the best way to clean the teeth and remove all tartar. This also allows a full exam of the mouth including the gums, tongue and the back of the throat; areas which are not normally fully visible during a routine outpatient exam. A dental cleaning procedure includes removal of the tartar and plaque, cleaning along and under the gum line, evaluation of each tooth, and dental x-rays. Regular dental cleanings help maintain fresh breath and the integrity of your pets teeth. The recommended frequency of dental cleanings varies from pet to pet. Please ask us how we can help to improve the dental health of your companion. Call to schedule your dental consult today.
