August News: We are Open

The first month of business has been an exciting time for us. Drs. Russell and Crosier are pleased to welcome so many wonderful owners and pets into our new practice.  We certainly appreciate your confidence and for selecting us to care for your four legged companions. We look forward to long standing relationships with each of you.

Below are some photos from the construction phase of our project.  Oh how far we have come.

In the Community

The doctors and staff will be attending the Middletown Peach Festival on Saturday August 18th.  This is a fabulous community event with many family friendly activities. Please stop by our booth to say hello and enter to win one of two gift baskets.  We will also have some fun games and giveaways. Our doctors and staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have about our new practice or about general pet care.  Our booth will be located near the corner of West Green Street and South Broad Street next to the Boys and Girls Club.

Please also plan to visit us at Tractor Supply on Rt. 13 in Smyrna on Saturday August 25th.  We will be supporting their community event from 10 am – 2 pm. Two additional gift baskets will be raffled off during this event.

Pesky Parasites

One of our main goals is to provide point of care service whenever possible. This means that many blood tests and other diagnostic testing will be performed in our on site laboratory and results available before completion of your pet’s appointment.  One of our in house blood tests is the heartworm and tick screening test. The Idexx SNAP pro readers ensure accurate test results and allow our staff more time with your pet while the test is running. In addition to testing for the presence of adult heartworms, this test also screens for 3 tick borne illnesses:  Lyme, Ehrlichia and Anaplasma. Unfortunately these infections are fairly common in our area, and dogs do not always show active signs of infection. In order to help prevent your pet(s) from becoming a statistic, we recommend the year round use of monthly medications that help to prevent these serious infections. Please ask us about our recommended products.  Follow this link to the Center for Disease Control website where you can learn about the ticks common to this area and the diseases that they transmit:  CDC-TickBorneDiseases
